Durban - South Africa was one of the three leaders in the world as an investment destination, premier Zweli Mkhize said in Durban on Tuesday.
Mkhize said research by Ernst and Young, which surveyed 5 000 investors, found that 41% of respondents chose South Africa as the first choice of destination.
Mkhize was speaking at the Brics business forum at the Durban Exhibition Centre. Brics is an economic bloc representing five of the world's leading emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
Mkhize said one of the advantages of hosting the Brics summit was that it opened opportunities to trade with Africa. He said KwaZulu-Natal had the second largest economy in the country. It had two of the largest ports bringing goods to South Africa and the southern region.
