Johannesburg - The current levels of South Africa's rand currency "may be unwelcome" in terms of the wider balance in the economy, central bank Governor Tito Mboweni said on Monday.
The rand was "fairly elevated" on a trade-weighted basis and it may be said is a bit on the strong side.

The rand touched a near 9 month high against the dollar on Monday.
