Sydney - Australian police were on Monday puzzling over the theft of 45 000 litres of fuel from a Sydney petrol station.
It seems the high price of the commodity prompted a 36-year-old motorist to rig up his van with hoses, a pump and a massive tank to steal from the petrol station's underground storage tanks.
"The van matching the description seen at the service station was seen by police and the vehicle contained what appeared to be a home-made tank in the rear, with a large quantity of liquid believed to be diesel," Detective inspector Gary Hutchen said.
