Johannesburg - The price of petrol will drop by between 31c and 33c from Wednesday, the first major decrease this year.
From next week, 93 octane fuel will cost R9.92 in Gauteng and R9.62 at the coast - 33c less. Fuel with 95 octane will be 31c cheaper. Diesel will come down by 11c/l and illuminating paraffin by 12c/l.
The department of energy said on Friday the decreases were due to lower global oil prices. A stronger rand against the dollar also contributed.
