Petrol price hike puts a pinch on pockets

Cape Town - The price of all grades of petrol will increase following months of relief at the pumps for motorists.

The petrol price will rise by 96c a litre on Wednesday, the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources announced on Friday.

The price of diesel will increase by between 74c/litre.

The price of illuminating paraffin will go up by 98c/litre.

Earlier this week Dawie Roodt, economist at Efficient Group, told Fin24 consumers could expect an increase of about 90c/litre which should take the price to R11/litre.
