Johannesburg - The headline producer inflation was unchanged at 6.7% year-on-year in September compared with August, Statistics South Africa says.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected PPI to quicken slightly to 6.75% year-on-year in September.
Prices at the factory gate rose by 0.4% on a month-on-month basis in September, in line with market expectations, from 0.8% in August.
Since January, Stats SA has releases five industry-specific producer price indices, with final manufactured goods representing the headline number.
