Johannesburg - Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has called
for a speedy conclusion to the debate around a number of labour bills, her
department said on Tuesday.
It said Oliphant had asked National Economic Development and
Labour Council (Nedlac) partners to accelerate the process of amendments to
labour legislature.
There was an expectation that the legislation would be
finalised by the end of this year, Oliphant told Nedlac.
The bills were published in December.
They include the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of
Employment Act, Employment Equity and the Public Employment Services Bill.
"The bills are currently at a delicate stage at
Nedlac," the department said.
Nedlac is a forum for social dialogue and comprises representatives from business, government, labour and the community.
