Cape Town - Employers in the engineering sector must prepare for a "war" in wage negotiations next year, the National Union of Metalworkers of SA said on Wednesday.
"We are not prepared to settle for less, but we are prepared to settle on a double digit as part of breaking the (barrier) of poverty in the household," the union said in a year-end statement.
It also said that the tripartite alliance was led nationally by general secretaries who were all communists.
"Our movement now more than ever requires these communists to bring our movement back from the public spats and degeneration of our revolution to a much more mature revolutionary leadership," it said.
