Cape Town - Eskom on Friday said there was no suspected load shedding scheduled for the Easter weekend, according to reports.
While the grid is still under severe strain, the parastatal said there was enough capacity to handle demand until after the Easter weekend was over, EWN reported.
Emergency loadshedding, however, could still be a possibility, with customers urged to assist in reducing the load, Eskom’s Khulu Phasiwe told EWN.
eNCA, though, reported that next week will be particularly worse for the utility.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Unions of SA said on Thursday that Eskom needed to put people in charge that would ensure the country has reliable power supply.
“We need proper management installed at Eskom,” Fedusa president Koos Bezuidenhout told News24.
He was speaking after Fedusa and other organisations met Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria to discuss efforts to ensure a secure electricity supply.
