Johannesburg - The National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) confirmed on Wednesday that the cabinet has approved the appointment of Phindile Nzimande as CEO.
Nzimande, the CEO of EDI Holdings, which was de-commissed by the government last week, will assume her duties on May 1.
The energy regulator said Nomalanga Sithole, executive manager for corporate services, will act as CEO until the end of April. Sithole's acting appointment was assigned for administrative responsibilities only, the regulator said.
Nersa also confirmed that the cabinet has approved the appointment of Thembani Bukula as a regulator primarily responsible for electricity industry regulation.
Ethel Teljeur will be the regulator responsible for the piped-gas industry and Rod Crompton for petroleum pipelines industry regulation.
These appointments are for a period of five years and are effective from April 1.
