Johannesburg – Motor trade sales measured in nominal terms and current prices increased by 14.7% year on year in January‚ compared with an 5.7% year-on-year increase in December‚ Statistics SA reported on Thursday.
The highest annual growth rates were recorded for new vehicle sales (20%)‚ workshop income (16.5%) and used vehicle sales (15.4%).
Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales lifted by 11.3% in January compared with December following month-on-month changes of -6.8% in December and -3.2% in November.
Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales in the three months to December were up 1.2% compared with the same period a year ago.
