Johannesburg - South Africa's manufacturing production fell more than expected to -7.9% year-on-year in July, from a revised 0.2% expansion in June, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.
On a month-on-month basis, factory production was down 3.6%, and fell 2.0% in the three months to July compared with the previous three months.
Economists polled by Reuters expected factory output to contract by 5.65% year-on-year in July and by 1.9% on a month-on-month basis.
