Johannesburg - The strike and protest by the SA Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu) at Johannesburg Meter Services (JMS) continued on Monday, the union said.
"The strike is continuing today and more workers have joined," said Johannesburg branch chairman Essau Mbele.
On Sunday, the union said that 27 of the company's 52 employees had been on strike since Thursday.
Mbele said he did not know how many workers had now joined the strike, but that it was "definitely more than 27".
He said workers were protesting outside the JMS office in Ferndale.
"We are waiting to hear from the employer (about) when they want to speak to us. It could be today (Monday)."
JMS spokesperson Mike Hockey said on Sunday that the issue at hand was "an inability to reach agreement in relation to remuneration for the 2011/2012 year".
Samwu claims that JMS offered a wage increase of R800 at a meeting with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, but was now offering only R500.
