Johannesburg - Photographers have been barred from Thursday's SA Reserve Bank news conference at which governor Tito Mboweni was scheduled to speak.
An official in the governor's office confirmed Mboweni had instructed that news photographers not be allowed to attend the afternoon briefing on interest rates.
It was also confirmed that the central bank had changed the format for its rates decision presentation.
Usually, Mboweni reads a prepared statement before delivering the Monetary Policy Committee's verdict on rates.
On Thursday, the repo rate verdict was scheduled to be announced at the beginning of the news conference, to be followed by the statement.
The official could not say whether or not this would be the at future rate announcements.
