Johannesburg - Labour department director-general, Jimmy Manyi, will lead a South African delegation to the African Regional Labour Administration Centre (Arlac) in Zimbabwe next week, his department said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Page Boikanyo said Manyi would represent Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana who was unable to attend the 36th session of the Arlac due to the forthcoming state of the nation address.
The five day session scheduled to start on February 8 would be attended by labour ministers from several African states.
Items on the agenda at the Arlac meeting included expert views on the role of labour administration and inspections in the implementation of the global jobs pact which seeks to narrow the unemployment gap.
The meeting would also receive reports of country experiences in terms of the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) decent job agenda.
Representatives from the United Nations Development Programme and the ILO were expected to attend.
In a document released ahead of the summit, Arlac lamented the effects of the global recession on African development and social progress.
