Johannesburg - Finance Minister Trevor Manuel said during a CNBC television interview from London on Monday that the
key challenge is to "get out from where we are", and as part of this he sees the need for demand to be stimulated across the globe.
Manuel is in London - together with central bank governor Tito Mboweni - attending the key G-20 meeting that financial markets hope will move the solution to the global financial mess forward.
Manuel said there was a need for better co-ordination of macroeconomic decisions on the fiscal and monetary side and for the stimulation of demand to "deal with the imbalances that brought us to this moment".
While he does not see room for a global regulator, Manuel says "regulation will happen".
