Johannesburg - Farmworkers need to own their own land to aid their upliftment, ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said in Pongola, Kwa-Zulu Natal, on Saturday, according to a report.
The SABC reported that Mantashe spoke to farmworkers, telling them that land ownership and productive use of this land would help them to improve their lives.
According to the report, the African National Congress would work to improve the living conditions of farm labourers.
The workers complained that they needed basic services, including electricity and water, and tertiary education institutions for their children.
