Malema in Popcru firing line

2012-09-13 22:23

Johannesburg - Expelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema's attempts to destabilise the labour movement in the country is repulsive, Popcru said on Thursday.

"The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union is among many organisations which worked hard to ensure there are proper systems in place to peacefully govern the labour sector," it said in a statement.

"We will not stand by and watch all this momentous work being flushed down the drain by a power hungry reject.

"Popcru warns Mr Malema that not all people are fooled by his rhetoric and he will be exposed for the fraud he is."

It said the SA Police Service (Saps) should arrest him if he was found guilty or suspected of inciting violence and instability in the country.

"We are also aware of Malema's plot to address members of SAPS and we call upon our members not to entertain him," it said.

"All members are well informed about the channels available to them in case of disputes and must be rest assured Popcru will continue to fight their battles as we have done so for the past 22 years

Malema had addressed striking miners, urging them to go on work stoppages every month until their demands were met.

He also addressed disgruntled soldiers on Wednesday, causing the defence minister to accuse him of being a counter-revolutionary and trying to incite members of the SA National Defence Force against the state.

Trade union Solidarity has laid two charges of incitement to violence against Malema for allegedly provoking unrest among striking mine workers.

      bloody teletubby

  • dougbal01 - 2012-09-13 22:46

I think it amounts to treason, wanting the soldiers turn against the state. He can address workers if they need him but as for soldiers, that is not go for me.

      denton.estment - 2012-09-14 07:56

It is also inciting to a coup du tat.

  • Mandla - 2012-09-13 22:47

only a fool cannot see someone is ordering the union to talk late ,29days? Who? Jz?maybe same slow responding,i think so.

  • Manduleli Rotherham Mtyoki - 2012-09-13 23:28

Its really shocking that Malema will be the talk of town. Everyone firing shots at Malema, why? R those people addressed by Malema fools not to see what is right or wrong for this country? Instant of shouting about Malema that nd that, why can't u persuade those employed by government to intervene in Marikana? The portfolio comittee refused to visit those poor workers. What r u saying about that? Nothing I guess.

      talita.vandermerwe - 2012-09-14 06:34

I agree. Not one word from Mr Rhamaposa who owns 9% of Lonmin. They should get him to work underground in one of these mines for a month. These miners have been exploited for a very long time. First during apartheid and still today.

      ron.rielander - 2012-09-14 08:57

@ Sellout Talita ... WTF are you on dude...Exploited my ass, any one of them can resign whenever they want, they chose to do that job, if it means they did it from lack of education then it was their choice, if they attained an education and went into a managerial position, choice, choice. This want, want, want attitude must be dropped if this country has any future.

  • glen.e.huysamer - 2012-09-13 23:29

And who is this leader of Popcru that does not have his name printed in the news. How is it that a Union Leader of the Police can make threatening statements to a citizen of South Africa, are these friends of Num or Cyril Ramaphoza, are the police becoming the armed forces or militia of Num/Casatu who orders are they going to follow, when they arrest JUJU Popcru must go lay charges at the police station and then stand in line behind Solidarity..... Just who ever lays the charge, sign on the dotted line clearly so we can all know who you are, because that is what you want,,,,,,,,, to be Famous.

      maune.moima - 2012-09-13 23:51

      Popcru..? whats dat F==k dem

  • crracker.crackerr - 2012-09-13 23:33

There should not be something like a Popcru. The independent and unbiased enforcement of the law (and order and the military role in this country) should not depend at all on loyalty to any political/ideological/trade union party. The real nonsense is still coming our way. If you can have for example a Popcru or whatever to decide where loyalties should rest you might just as well have all other formations doing the same. The miners are an example. They can have exactly the same expectations that Popcru members are entitled to. If the leadership says this or that.... But let's see how this all start colliding with each as the realities of real life kicks in. One can turn the arguments of the miners (many protesting were apparently not even employees of the mines affected) around and with good, solid logic. Let's see how it is done. How come only the miners and their immediate geographies must benefit from the mines just because those mines or natural resources happen to be in their immediate surroundings? So the local community suddenly has the right to the benefits? No sharing with the rest of the country? That is NOT fair!!!! Take it from there. Just because you happen to occupy a portion of a land that is rich and useable for generating an income does not entitle you to preferential treatment above the rest of the country's inhabitants. We really need some common sense.

      Blixum - 2012-09-14 09:45

What are you whinging and stuttering about Cracker? Remember unions was an invention from the apratheid regime. What you have got now is what you voted for you chop!

  • dee.bone.39 - 2012-09-13 23:50

ANC's 2 ridiculous choices (zuma and malema) really causing the party problems. To late for the citizens of the country though and especially the poor. What a mess this party is.

  • lufefe.ntulini.5 - 2012-09-14 00:08

Propcru are your all satisfied with the way you doing things how much is service, travel allowance 4 SAPS you better move fast b4 malema

  • irvin.mkhari - 2012-09-14 00:29

there is nothing malema done wrong,is better the unions and gorvenment focus on the demand the miners requested not malema.

  • thulani.masuku.7 - 2012-09-14 02:03

who ever issued this statement is on the ANC pay list! let the police men and women decide for the selves! do no write than about dc and losing their jobs! address the core problem! and forget about Malema!

  • leko.dada1 - 2012-09-14 02:36

police not popcru, teachers not sadtu, nurses not nehawu deserve better salaries AND IF THEY DECIDE TO INVITE MALEMA like miners are doing ,what message are they sending to the unions and government? doing dirty tricks against Malema would back-fire in a big way ,ask Zuma~Ramaphosa~Shabangu about firing Juju aftermath...

      george.casper.315 - 2012-09-14 07:25

Well said Leko, If the leaders were indeed leaders malema would have no platform to incite anyone,

  • mkhuseli.njamela - 2012-09-14 03:38

Shame on you Popcru your SAPS members are joining SAPU in big numbers...

  • donovan.gabriel.77 - 2012-09-14 04:29

Stop reporting on Malema. We are making him important by reporting on every small load of garbage that comes ou of his mouth.Just leave him in a corner and let him go unnoticed.

  • donnmakaveli - 2012-09-14 05:01

The Malema show a pumped up one-hit wonder like a noisy neighbor's pounding stereo that we'll all have to endure for another 60 days is in full swing, till the ANC conference. I have to say Father, forgive him, for he know what he is doing.

  • magaza.vaida - 2012-09-14 05:25

Y shud I listen to Popcru? U cnt even fyt for ur members bcoz u r ANC urself bt u now expect us to listen to u.Go Juju Go!!!!!

  • mthelu - 2012-09-14 05:49

  • fumani.khosa.10 - 2012-09-14 05:54

Hahahahaha... I've seen and witness a lot of people being led by fools but this time it's crazy... Malema. The funny part even the academics with lesser self respect are convinced about the country's new messiah. The boy who can't even read will stop at nothing to get to the top and - like his ex chommie ( mr president)- not that he will do it right when he gets there. He's a fool how can you lead people if you can't lead yourself. I sympathise with those who're convinced by this fool I hope and wish for somethin to come to shut this devil'son out of our public space. The best place for this boy is FET technical wher he'll learn some 'ambag'

For as long as unions are in bed with the ruling party, the labour will never know peace.

  • nghamula.mdunwazi - 2012-09-14 06:38

To pupcru:are you aware that public service act personnel at SAPS are at level three, about 70.000PA.are you aware that they are earning like a cleaners but the educated?

  • collen.masetla - 2012-09-14 06:46

Are you threatening him? Are you feeling his presence? You fools cannot win this. Julius Malema is the chosen one. Rejected by a faction not ANC, that is why stadiums were fully packed and halls fully packed when he was addresing ANC members during his disciplinary. ANC will never reject its own children.\r\n\r\nWhat is popcru? The fraud of them all? Is been 4 years we always hear the arrest of Malema the arrest of malema...why not now? STOP THREATENING PRESIDENT JULIUS MALEMA, IT WON'T WORK. YOU MAKING ALLEGATIONS TO THREATEN HIM, PEOPLE ON THE GROUND PREFER HIM OVER YOUR president of the country.\r\n\r\npopcru has no power.

  • josie.russell.10 - 2012-09-14 06:53

It seems like they are frightend - I think our friend Julius knows all the skeletons in the all their cupboards ha ha Another Idi in the making?

  • johnwilliam.roberts - 2012-09-14 06:59

boreing the more you report on him the more he loves it let the idiot talk himsef into getting taken care of .

  • ron.warwick.79 - 2012-09-14 06:59

Problem is all those following and supporting Julius now are the ones the ANC has ensured stay uneducated. For years and years they been brainwashed and made to believe what the "clever" ones tell them, Julius knows this and is using the same people against the ANC. Just a pity they aren't able to see this and pretty desperate if someone like Julius is your hero.

      senzesihle - 2012-09-14 08:02

The National Party made sure we stay uneducated with their Bantu education. All those miners are product of that and they willing to be used by a domkop who wears a R250 000 watch.

  • andre.vandeventer.16 - 2012-09-14 07:11

They will rather arrest an old lady for a parking offence. They are too afraid of arresting any black person who carries some authority.

  • rufus.manyama - 2012-09-14 07:39

Popcru-You don t even know dat Mr Malema was invited to address them,he don t just go! I wouldn t join your union if i was a police officer.

  • brionyl.french - 2012-09-14 07:44

He needs to be arrested before the people start killing.... I hear runours they wanna torchs his grand mothers house in Polekwane, why her house? Just take this man and stick him in a prison... And start arresting these miners! They will happily dismemeber their own friends... We are not safe!!! Malema is the wooden spoon stiring SA the pot

      4 wat good reason 4ward Juju 4ward.

  • phumi.ntlabati - 2012-09-14 08:00

The leadership of Popcru is worried about the scandals it faces internally for corruption and misuse of their members funds. These charlatans are afraid of being exposed of how they get money to buy expensive X5's, whilst majority of their members do not even qualify for housing loans! We wil not be dettered by non-starters, who lack political legitimacy, and who were parachuted into positions of power through dubious means!

  • deabreu - 2012-09-14 08:10

A man who had so much power, who created his own power, is now at the firing end of "counter-revolutionary" statements and the typical ANC propaganda. PERHAPS Malema should use his power NOW to expose the real lies and corruption in the ANC and save himself while he sinks the rest of the rats.

  • peter.hall.3956 - 2012-09-14 08:12

Phumi, i agree with you, the Unions are a money collection agency with limited power. However, those who follow anarchy and extremism will be worse off in the long run. Fundamentally and economically a country needs big business to be able to function, take that away and what is left? Government, unions and future leaders should be embracing big business in SA as this is the only real future!!

  • janzanele - 2012-09-14 08:14

please lockup that moron for treason

  • Mandla - 2012-09-14 08:20

  • george.aschendorf1 - 2012-09-14 09:10

He is a fraud just want money for his own good he is jealous about the rich in the country that work hard for it Like Mostepe and others and now he wants to rip them off. He the devil hiom self and wants to take Gods people under to the same bad level he is. The miners must do in a proper way and I do feel for them because in this living age to earn that amount is really bad becaue the bread and everything goes up. When I was at school we went to a trip to one of the mines and believe me and you to work undergroud it takes hell of a person to make other rich. Because under ground I saw with my own eyes it is deep underground and the guys work and workj and what if something happen there it is realy scarey to go underground and ALL THE MINERS DOES THIS NOT BECAUSE THEY WANT BUT FOR THEIR FAMILIES PLEASE PAY THEM RIGHT AND DO NOT LET MALEMA INFLUENS THEM BECAUSE HE IS THE DAVIL

  • lmouza - 2012-09-14 10:35

Instead of BEE,education should have been one of the ANCs top priorities after 1994....taking willing miners and their children to school could have avoided a South Africa of today;where democracy was misubderstood to meaning revenge.I mean guys like Julius Malema could possibly be reading for his MA by now!I have had the privilege of studying in South African institutions under our government's scholarship;and truth be told, you guys have the best universities in Africa and they outclass our own here in Botswana by far.But my impressions about South Africa were that education had been overlooked. The illiteracy rate in that beautiful country posses serious risks to post 1994 SA.

  • pieter.pretorius.106 - 2012-09-14 10:55
