Cape Town - Eskom on Thursday asked that South Africans “live lightly” for the next few months by using electricity sparingly.
In its system status bulletin, the power utility said the electricity supply remained constrained but stable. This means that any extra load or faults in the system may necessitate the need to go into load shedding.
Eskom said contingency measures that have been in place at the Majuba power station have resulted in the improved performance of the plant, with five of the six units currently producing a total of 3 000MW into the power grid.
