Pretoria - Limpopo's premier
Cassel Mathale was urged by the Democratic Alliance on Tuesday to tackle the lack of spending by the provincial government on capital projects.
The Democratic Alliance's provincial leader Desiree van der Walt said in a statement that the province's failure to use its capital budget was hampering service delivery
She said a recent report released by the national treasury showed that by September last year Limpopo had only spent 26.2% of its R2.7bn budget.
"Limpopo came second only to Free State in underspending of capital budgets. The obvious implication of this under-spending is poor service delivery," she said.
"We expect that Premier Mathale will tackle this thorny issue in his state of the province address scheduled for later this month. He must show a clear and decisive leadership when it comes to service delivery," she said.
