Fin24 user Bruce Leighton seeks clarity on whether all his workers should get the 8% wage increase. He writes:
I have some employees who are above the rates of A grade workers. Will I have to give them the same increase as stipulated by the latest agreement of 8%?
We are part of the MEIBC (Metal & Engineering Industries Bargaining Council).
Terry Bell responds:
The short answers is yes, because your higher paid workers will obviously wish to maintain their relative advantage. However, if you have a good relationship with your employees and are open about the financial position of your business you could come to an agreement that suits both parties.
Hope that's of help.
