Johannesburg - The labour department has appointed Aggy Moiloa as its new chief operations officer, it announced on Wednesday.

"Moiloa was until recently chief director of provincial operations for the department of labour in Mpumalanga," spokesperson Page Boikanyo.

Her appointment came into effect on October 1, 2013.

She joined the labour department in 1997 as a training adviser in Mpumalanga. In 2000 she was promoted to assistant director.

"She rose through the ranks and was later promoted business unit manager: labour market information, statistics and planning, between 2000 and 2003," Boikanyo said.

She was later appointed chief director: provincial operations. In Mpumalanga she acted as a chief spokesperson for the department.
