Key appointments at central bank

Johannesburg - The South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) on Friday that Zanele Mavuso Mbatha has been appointed to the position of head of financial markets department, with effect from January 1 2011.

She takes over from Dr Roelf du Plooy, who goes on retirement on 30 April 2011. Du Plooy joined the SARB in February 1992 and will remain with the financial markets department as an advisor until his retirement.

André Bezuidenhout has been appointed to the position of head: risk management and compliance department, a newly created department, with effect from December 1 2010.  Bezuidenhout joined the SARB in June 1991.

Dr Rashad Cassim has been appointed to the position of head of research department with effect from March 1 2011.
