Johannesburg - Wholesale trade sales at
constant prices for June increased by 3.9% year-on-year (y/y)‚ the
slowest y/y rise since July 2011‚ compared with a revised 9.3%
(8.7%) y/y gain in May‚ Statistics SA data showed on Thursday.
Wholesale trade sales increased by 9%
y/y in nominal terms in June.
Measured in real terms (constant 2000
prices)‚ seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by
2.7% in June 2012 compared with May 2012. This followed
month-on-month changes of 1.3% in May 2012 and 2.3% in April 2012.
In the first half of 2012‚ real
wholesale trade sales increased by 8.6% y/y compared with a 6.2% rise
for the whole of 2011.
In the first half of 2012‚ real
retail trade sales increased by 5.6% y/y compared with a 6.1% rise
for the whole of 2011.
