Johannesburg - A building inspector for the City of Johannesburg has been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes, the metro said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Gaynor Mashamaite-Noyce said the man was believed to have solicited a bribe from a building owner in exchange for not reporting that the building was dilapidated.
The building owner reported the inspector and a sting operation was set up.
He was arrested in Berea on Monday, after he was handed money.
An investigation into whether he had done this previously was underway.
