Pretoria - The serious challenges of unemployment and poverty remain "constant" in SA, said President Jacob Zuma on Friday.
Zuma was addressing the Presidential Business Summit on Job Creation in Pretoria, which was attended by big business leaders and some cabinet ministers.
Despite the long periods of growth that SA had experienced in recent years, these had not been enough to create jobs, Zuma said.
"We need to find a solution," he said.
"At the policy level, we believe in a mixed economy," Zuma said, adding that this would be characterised by cooperation among business, labour, government and the civil society.
The most "effective weapon" in the fight against poverty was the creation of decent work and this required "faster economic growth".
