Johannesburg - Consumer inflation in South Africa accelerated to 6.4% year-on-year in August from 6.3% in July, data showed on Wednesday.
Economists had expected year-on-year inflation of 6.45%.
On a month-on-month basis, CPI slowed to 0.3%, in line with forecasts, from 1.1% in July.
