Stockholm - Swedish clothing retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) said Wednesday it planned to open its first store in India in 2014.
An H&M spokesperson told dpa the opening was set for the second half of the year, but could not say in which city as the company was looking at several different locations in India.
"It is one of the most exciting countries in the world right now, with so much potential," chief executive Karl-Johan Persson said in a statement.
The company, which operates in 53 markets worldwide, also plans to open stores in the Philippines and Australia during the year.
