Athens - Greece's unemployment rate dropped slightly to 26.8% in March from an upwardly revised 26.9% in the previous month, the Statistical Agency Elstat said Thursday.
Despite the drop, the rate was more than twice the eurozone average of 11.7% in April. In total, 1.24 million people were out of work in Greece, it said.
Elstat said unemployment among women and young people was the most severe with 58.3% of people between 15 and 24 and 30.6% of women jobless.
Greece has implemented unpopular austerity measures demanded by international creditors in exchange for bailout loans. It remains in recession for the sixth-straight year.
