Athens - Unemployment in Greece dropped in August to 25.9% in seasonally-adjusted terms, from July's revised estimate of 26.1%, the statistics agency ELSTAT said Thursday.
A total of 1.242 million people were out of work in the month.
The jobless rate was the lowest recorded in the crisis-stricken country since peaking at 28% in September 2013.
Unemployment among youths aged between 15 and 24 continued to be particularly high but fell to 49.3%, down from 58.6% the same period last year. Greeks aged 25 to 34 were also struggling with an unemployment rate of 32.7%.
Greece has been in recession for the last six years, having implemented unpopular austerity measures demanded by international creditors in exchange for bailout loans.
