Johannesburg - The government has not listened to the people of Gauteng regarding e-tolls, Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) in the province said on Thursday.
"We [have] previously demanded that the system should be scrapped and alternatives be explored to pay for the draconian system," provincial secretary Dumisani Dakile told reporters in Johannesburg.
"Our government has not listened to the views of the people in the province."
He accused Sanral of abusing more than R20bn on upgrading the province's highways without consulting citizens."We call this action of Sanral as selling our public roads to the highest bidder and to monopoly capital without caring about our country and its people."
Dakile added that the trade union federation, along with the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance and the National Taxi Alliance, would stage a protest on Saturday at the Pretoria offices of Sanral.
