Johannesburg - Gold output fell by 21.2% in volume terms in December, while total mineral production fell 7.5% compared with the same month last year, data showed on Thursday.  

Production of non-gold minerals was 5% lower, Statistics South Africa said. Production of platinum group metals plunged 23.2% in December.
