Frankfurt - Germany's trade surplus reached €216.9bn in 2014, soundly beating a previous record from 2007 of €195.3bn, the German Statistics Office reported Monday.
Total exports equalled €1133.5bn as compared to imports valued at €916.6bn.
The actual trade surplus is slightly lower than first estimates of €217bn. Further revisions of the numbers are expected throughout the year with a final estimate expected in October, the Statistics Office said.
