Johannesburg - Gautrain bus drivers who were on strike
returned to work on Wednesday, the company said.
"Yes, thankfully all the drivers are back at work,"
spokesperson Errol Braithwaite said.
On Monday, the SA Transport and Allied Workers' Union
(Satawu) said about 400 bus drivers contracted to the Gautrain may strike if a
salary dispute was not resolved.
Satawu on Tuesday said Mega Express bus drivers earned about
R4 000 a month, which was not enough for the high standard of living.
Mega Express is the only bus service contracted to ferry
commuters to and from Gautrain stations.
The Gautrain service between Pretoria, Hatfield and
Centurion was disrupted on Wednesday morning due to cable theft.
Braithwait said the disruption was caused by cable theft at
a sub-station and was expected to be repaired by 11am.
A shuttle bus system was being used to transport commuters
between the two stations.
