Johannesburg - The retail prices of 93 octane and 95 octane petrol will lift by 27c a litre on December 2 after remaining unchanged on November 4 and after declines of 39c and 40c respectively the month before, the Department of Energy announced on Friday.

Diesel prices will increase, with 0.05% sulphur up 25c a litre and 0.005% sulphur up 26c per litre.

Wholesale paraffin increases by 29c and illuminating paraffin by 39c per litre.

Petrol in Gauteng will costs 792c a litre from 765c before, and it is 769c at the coast from 742c before.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased.

The average rand/dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period. The average rand/dollar exchange rate for the period October 30 2009 to November 26 2009 was R7.57 compared with R7.50 during the previous period.
