Johannesburg - The number of people employed in the formal non-agricultural sector of the SA economy increased by about 42 000 persons‚ or 0.5%‚ in the second quarter‚ the June Quarterly Employment Statistics survey released by Statistics SA on Tuesday shows.
This took the number of employed in the formal non-agricultural sector to an estimated 8.425 million in the second quarter‚ from an estimated 8.383 million in the first quarter.
The survey showed that gross earnings paid to employees during the quarter ended June (April to June) amounted to R352.5bn‚ reflecting a quarterly increase of R3.5bn or 1% compared with the quarter ended March 2012.
