Johannesburg - South Africa's producer inflation accelerated less than expected to 3.5% year-on-year in February from 2.7% in January, official data showed on Thursday.
Statistics South Africa said on a monthly basis producer inflation, representing domestic output, was at 0.4% compared with 1.3% in January.
Exported commodities inflation stood at -2.5% year-on-year in February compared with -3.8 percent the month before, while imported commodities inflation quickened to 5.3 percent year-on-year from 2.6% previously.
A Reuters poll showed PPI was expected to accelerate to 3.7 percent year-on-year and slow to 0.6 percent month-on-month.
