Cape Town - Eskom will implement stage 1 load shedding from 17:00 on Wednesday, which is likely to continue until 22:00 this evening.
Eskom said because of maintenance, the system will again not be able to meet 1 000MW of demand during the evening peak period. "This means that although certain areas will be without electricity for a certain period, about 96% of South Africans will still continue to receive power supply at the same time."
Eskom has limited its load shedding to the evening peak only since last Wednesday as a "necessary measure to protect the power system" and to "ensure that maintenance is carried out to guarantee electricity supply can be maintained in the long term".
