Johannesburg - Load shedding will change from Stage 2 to Stage 1 at 12:00 on Sunday, and this is expected to continue until 22:00, Eskom said in a statement issued late Sunday morning.
This is mainly because it is making progress in building up the necessary reserves.
"We are using the weekend to build up diesel stocks and dam water levels for open-cycle gas turbines and pumped storage schemes respectively.
The electricity supply system remains constrained due to a shortage of generation capacity as several units are currently out of service due to planned and unplanned outages.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to affected customers. We urge all South Africans to become part of the solution by making a concerted effort to reduce their electricity usage and thus limit the severity of load shedding," said Eskom.
"Businesses and households can make a difference by implementing saving measures in their processes and daily lives. We would like to thank electricity users for responding to our messages to save. We see a reduction that makes a difference in the power system."
Eskom said will provide regular updates on the status of the power system.
Eskom customers can check load shedding schedules on the Eskom website. Municipal customers are urged to contact their local authorities.
