Johannesburg – The Eskom War Room was working in an emergency environment, aiming to minimise the level of load shedding as well as containing the supply and demand shortfall, according to the energy ministry.
Acting Energy director-general Dr Wolsey Barnard told delegates at the African Energy Indaba on Tuesday that the committee was working on returning the country to normality within 20 months, but warned it would take a collective effort to ensure a blackout does not occur.
“Big business is giving us big support,” he said. “Now, everyone in the country needs to pull their weight.”
