Cape Town - Progress is being made with planned maintenance of the power system but supply remains tight, Eskom said on Monday.

The demand for power between Thursday and Sunday had been adequately met, the power utility said in a statement.

Available capacity to meet Monday's peak demand was 33 523 megawatts (MW), while demand was forecast at 31 371 MW.

Eskom said it would release a power supply update twice a week to keep consumers informed.
