Johannesburg - Eskom announced on Sunday morning that it would implement stage 2 load shedding from 07:00 to midday on Sunday.
Stage 1 load shedding will be implemented from 12:00 until 22:00, it added.

"This is due to the shortage of generating capacity as several units are currently out of service due to maintenance," Eskom said.
"Eskom would like to assure customers that load shedding is implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system and to ensure that maintenance is carried out in order to guarantee that our supply of electricity can be maintained in the long term."
The power utility called on all customers to reduce the load on the electricity grid by urgently switching off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day, in order to reduce electricity demand.
