Cape Town – If Eskom follows its race targets strictly up to 3 400 white employees could lose their jobs, according to trade union Solidarity.
In an EWN report, Solidarity’s Piet le Roux criticised Eskom’s latest employment equity plans, saying if implemented the power utility would be regarding race as more important than keeping the lights on.
In a weekend report specialist labour writer Jan de Lange said Eskom has to reduce its white engineers by 1 081 and white artisans by 2 179 in order to comply with strict new government requirements.
