Cairo - Egypt's cabinet has submitted a revised 2014/15 budget proposing a narrower deficit after President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi rejected a previous draft because spending was too high, says finance ministry spokesperson Ayman Alkaffas.
The new budget plans a deficit of $33.6bn in the fiscal year that starts on 1 July, less than the $41bn in the initial draft. A detailed budget statement will be issued later.
