Johannesburg - A strike by refuse truck drivers in Nelson Mandela Bay has ended, the municipality said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Mthubanzi Mniki said the drivers were back collecting rubbish on their scheduled routes.
"Following a court interdict that the municipality got on Friday against the employees, instructing them to return to work, and continuous engagement by the public health directorate management with the employees, [they took] a decision to go back to work," Mniki said in a statement.
The drivers downed tools in Uitenhage, Despatch, Motherwell, Struandale, Gail Road and Harrower Road last week, demanding better wages.
