Durban - The eThekwini Municipality is set to spend R31.8bn in the coming financial year.
Presenting the 2012/13 municipal budget, the city's mayor said the budget was an increase over the R28.6bn budget of the previous financial year.
R26.5bn would be operational budget, while R5.3bn would be capital expenditure, of which R4.73bn would be spent on infrastructure.
The budget would see residents paying 12.5% more for their water, while business would have to pay 15.5% more.
Nxumalo said the city's electricity tariffs would be hiked 11% and rates by 6.5%.
