Brussels - There is no possibility for a country to leave the eurozone, European Central Bank (ECB) President Mario Draghi said Monday.
"As far as the ECB is concerned, the euro is irreversible," Draghi said in a hearing at the European Parliament in Brussels.
He added that his bank "will do and will continue to do whatever it takes, within its mandate" to ensure the survival of the European currency bloc, which currently comprises 18 nations.
Draghi was responding to an EU lawmaker on the appropriateness of allowing national referendums on eurozone membership, as demanded by some eurosceptic parties.
