Johannesburg - The department of trade and industry on Friday called for comment on amendments to the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) codes of good practice.
The amendments will allow registered auditors to conduct B-BBEE verifications and issue verification certificates, the department said in a statement.
"The effect of this amendment is that effective from the 1 April 2011, registered auditors who have attended satisfactory competency training on B-BBEE will be able to apply to the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA) before they are approved to issue verification certificates," the dti said.
The amended provision was published on December 31, 2010, and comments have to made by February 28, 2011.
