Cape Town - City Power is working with Eskom to investigate a technical problem that left Johannesburg in the dark, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
The north eastern and southern suburbs of Johannesburg experienced power outages in the early parts of this morning.
City Power said that full power supply to all areas was expected to be restored by 12:00.
"The technical problem is being investigated by both City Power and Eskom in order to determine what caused the loss of supply at the Prospect Substation, which is one of the three bulk intake station in Johannesburg."
City Power apologised to customers affected by the outages.
On Monday, Fin24 was inundated with complaints of continued electricity blackouts, following load shedding by Eskom on Sunday.
However, Eskom said that where power outages were experienced on Monday, they would have been caused at municipal level and certainly not because of Eskom load shedding.
Power has been restored to some areas in the south following a fault at Prospect sub. Techcians are still on site working on restoration.
