Beijing - China's exports shot up 15.3% year-on-year in May, the customs agency said Sunday, a significant increase after a lacklustre performance the previous month.

The country recorded a total of $181.1bn in exports, the agency said. Imports also rose a healthy 12.7% in May, and the trade surplus widened slightly for the third consecutive month.
